This holiday season, The Empty Chair Project will bring families and community members together for a peaceful silent protest raising awareness for missing persons and unsolved cases.

At the center of the protest will be a holiday table surrounded by empty chairs—each representing someone who should be sitting at the table with the people who love and miss them. The empty chairs serve as a visual reminder that behind every missing person and every unsolved case is a person, a family, and a story that deserves to be remembered.
Everyone is welcome to participate. Families wishing to honor a loved one are encouraged to bring a chair and/or a photograph. A separate table will be available to display photographs of loved ones, while each chair will symbolize the empty seat at the table where someone should be.
There will be no speeches. Our message will be delivered through the empty chairs, the photographs, the names, and the presence of families and supporters standing together..

Unresolved Cases Awareness Week of Action | September 21–26, 2026: Raising Awareness. Amplifying Vo
On September 21, 2026, Brenda Gilliam, Founder of Our Destiny Our Future Foundation, participated as a speaker at the Arizona State Capitol during the Unresolved Cases Awareness Week of Action press conference.
Standing alongside other families impacted by missing persons and unresolved cases, Brenda shared Destiny's story and spoke about the challenges families face while seeking answers, accountability, and justice for their loved ones.
The press conference was part of a weeklong initiative organized by the Arizona Unsolved Cases Coalition to bring greater public awareness to unresolved cases, highlight gaps within the justice system, and encourage meaningful conversations about improving public safety and support for affected families.
For Brenda, this advocacy is deeply personal. Her commitment to ensuring that Destiny's story is never forgotten continues to fuel her efforts to amplify the voices of families navigating similar circumstances and advocate for meaningful change.
The week also marked an important opportunity to recognize the ongoing need for awareness and action through an official proclamation acknowledging Unresolved Cases Awareness Week in Arizona.
